Among the varieties of dry beans for export, the Black eyes of Madagascar is one of the most requested. Grown mainly in the northwest of the island, this legume was introduced on the initiative of the private sector in the 1990s. Visibility was strongest in 2007 with the arrival of new buyers. Currently, it is one of the most advantageous export commodities for local producers because of its short cycle. Westerners especially appreciate it for its creamy texture once cooked.
